Holy Innocents’ Foundation and Adoration Chapel of Oklahoma announces the plans to reopen and resume perpetual adoration in Oklahoma City (Warr Acres) the week of June 8, said Fr. M Price Oswalt, President and Chaplain.
The Chapel has been closed since March due to the worldwide pandemic of the virus, and adoration was suspended.
"Plans are still being formulated, and the new adoration coordinators are working with our list of adorers to make sure we can cover the necessary hours to have 24/7 adoration," Oswalt said. He indicated that the plan was to hold an opening Mass on Monday June 8 and resume adoration following.
"Though we have been extremely successful in our 8 years of operation and have closed the two abortion mills which set up next door to us and now the building next door is secure and not an abortion provider, our mission still remains the same: pray for the end of abortion on demand in our society, especially in our state, in addition to praying for all life issues. As the State of Oklahoma has plans to restart capital punishment, this too needs to be in the forefront of our minds.
As with many situations and institutions, our parishes and schools, Oswalt indicated that Holy Innocents’ has experienced a capital shortage in the covid 19 shutdown. “Our revenues, donations and contributions have declined, but our bills have not! It still costs us about $4500 a month to operate and pay the mortgage on the building." He said, "Our CPA, who does our taxes and pays our bills, as a contribution to HIF, informed the Board that we have enough operating capital to see us through to the end of July." So, WE NEED FINANCIAL HELP, NOW!
Oswalt told the story about the initial plans to open the chapel back in 2011: "When I contemplated opening a chapel of this sort in Oklahoma City, I asked Fr. Stephen Imbaratto, who founded the first such chapel in the US, ‘how do you pay for it?’" He said, "never fret, if the Lord wants this, He will see to it that it is paid for."
Oswalt continued, "I have always followed that advice. And I will now too. It is the Lord’s chapel, it is His mission, it is His gift to us. However, it is our call to serve the Lord both by being adorers in front of His Eucharistic Presence, and by being good stewards." He urged all who can, to "join (him) in helping to ensure the future is strong for HIF! Help us keep the doors open and keep the operation going! Make a strong pledge today to ensure that we are able to keep the 24/7 adoration going at Holy Innocents’ Chapel!”
He said that people may send a donation to Holy Innocents’ Foundation, Box 22171, OKC, OK. 73123 or you can make an online donation at: holyinnocentsokc.org by using paypal. All donations are tax deductible.
If you are interested in sharing your time in adoration, you can contact the adoration coordinators at: adoration.holyinnnocents@gmail.com
In closing, Fr. Oswalt said the Board is working diligently on a plan for safety for all, including social distancing, sanitation, sterilizing and all the protocols necessary to ensure everyone’s safety in the chapel as the adoration resumes.
