Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, the great televangelist of his day, coined the term, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”  He is credited with helping America understand that we sometimes have the best possible ideas and intentions of helping others, but sometimes those are not the best, when put into practice.

Such happens here at the Holy Innocents’ Foundation as well.  There are a great many things which the Foundation Officers find laying around, which we have never heard of nor approved of.  Be they books, papers, prayer cards, information sheets, etc.  There is a lot of good information out there about the pro-life movement and quite honestly, there is some which is questionable.  As both the president and chaplain of the Foundation, I am responsible for much of what has to happen here in the spirit of the pro-life movement and in the adoration of our Blessed Lord.

Likewise, I have to ensure that we meet all the requirements of those people who allow us to have such a place, both inside the Church and inside the government (e.g., to keep our tax exemption so that we can raise the funds to keep the place running).  We are a 501c(3) organization and there are certain things which must be maintained.  Likewise, as we are not an official part of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, we do need to maintain certain things within the scope of the Church so that the Archbishop continues his support of maintaining the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel.

Therefore, I ask for your cooperation in these matters.  Nothing is to be left in the chapel – be they books, holy cards, prayer programs, etc., without my expressed approval.  Likewise, we are not to leave nor attach any programs, nor flyers anywhere in the offices, doors nor foyer without such permission.  Further, please do not remove such if you see them.  If the Foundation puts things up for public information, it is not your responsibility to remove things.  We have staff that will take care of that.  We appreciate your eagerness to help, but we can handle those little things.

I appreciate your loyalty to the cause and your dedication to the pro-life movement and to the adoration and veneration of our Blessed Lord in the Holy Eucharist.  Let us keep praying for all life issues and moving forward with the great work we have done over this last year and see the graces the Lord will bestow in the year to com.

Thank you for what you have done and what you will continue to do.  I send you my priestly blessing and ask you to remember me in your prayers, as well as all the benefactors of the Foundation.

Fr. M Price Oswalt, KCHS

President and Chaplain
